megane 2006 model

hi

i bought a megane 1.6 2006 model

when we heard car running it sounded

like a diesel on cambelt side

we took mechanic later and did not seem as bad

we heard diesel sound for while then it stopped

cambelt and waterpump changed 2012

is it dephaser pulley problem as have been reading that later meganes had modified version
