My father in law wants to change his 2002 Scenic for something newer.
He wants an auto and due to his low annual mileage wants a petrol engine.
He's seen a couple of newer Scenics in the classifieds that he likes the look of but they have the CVT auto gearbox. Neither of us have any experience of CVT.
Those of you that own a CVT auto car, what do you think of them. I know they have different characteristics, no obvious rise and fall of the revs as speed increases and decreases, but I'm more interested in how reliable they are.
What are your real life experiences?
I see that the latest Scenics, (although diesels) have 6 speed auto gearboxes. Is this an indication that Renault have lost faith in them or am I reading too much into that.
Any comments or advice welcome.
