Hi I'm a courier driver in Brisbane Australia and I just joined up.
I bought a second hand 2004 year model Renault Trafic 6 speed manual 1.9diesel last month.
I think I got a bargain but soon discovered that there are some minor issues.
Firstly the fuel gauge on the dash flickers up and down constantly and does not give a reading. I fill up the diesel tank at about 700km's and clear the trip meter each time. I can live with that for the time being, as there is another problem.
The main problem is the clutch is low to the floorboard first thing in the morning which makes it difficult to get the gears in.
Sometimes you have to engage first gear before starting the engine and even so its difficult to change into second and so on. Its a pain.
I took it to a mechanic and he said the clutch master cylinder needs replacing. I'm hoping that this is the problem and not the 'slave' as I believe this requires removing the gearbox to get to it.
I bought a new master cylinder.
Please let me know what the procedure is to replace the 'master' cylinder.
Thanks
