Hi boys and girls!
As I mentioned in my first post on this forum I come from Croatia, but nevertheless I think theres no huge difference in our Renaults.
My parents own Thalia of first generation, with 1.4 petrol engine ( 55kW, 2 valves per cylinder ), year 2001. No remote control, no central lock, no electrified windows or so, just 2 airbags of equipment.
Happened like this: there was a heavy rain some 10 days ago. And later in the evening I sat in the car and wanted to start it.
But the red light didnt flash (false alarm thing), and when I gave contact everything was normal and cranking ( thats the word for starting up,ey? ) but wouldnt ignite.
Got back key to first position but still no red light flash.
Also there was no interior light, just when I would press contact to final position, otherwise nothing.
No stop light too.
Got the car into garage, dried it up for 2 days and collected some water in the channel under the wipers and that plastic cover. There is a hose for letting out water but was full of mud and stuff so some water was there.
For 2 days was ok, everything normal, then got slightly raining again and much moisture in the air and car wouldnt start ( few hours later wanted to go somewhere so I didnt put it in the garage for little rain).
This time red light normally flashes, stop light works and interior too.
When I give contact, red light flashes and I hear fast clicking from white relay inside cabin, the one which has buzzer for light alarm.
Now, as Ive read usually this could be crank sensor, but we have cleaned it up, Ive measured resistance and is aprox 230 Ohms, so should be fine.
Another thing whats bothering me is the imobilliser, but it hasnt it in the roof when theres no remote, yes?
Third thing could be that ring on side of steering column which reads chip/magnet from key. How to check it?
Checked all the fuses, relays have clean contact surface, removed all of dashboard and checked if theres wet cable or damage but everything is fine.
Any suggestions? Sorry for long a thread but wanted to make clearer as possible this situation.
Many thanks!
