Hi everyone,
I am trying to narrow down the cause of my 2003 Megane II which has the 1.4 16V petrol engine. The problem is when I try to start it up it starts then cuts back out gain, usually ok when cold though. When I start it I need to press accelerator pedal to rev it slightly so it will catch, then when it idles the rev needle is jumping up and down and ticking over a bit lumpy.
The usual suspect causes are;
Throttle body needing cleaned - Done that, no change
TDC sensor replacement - Doe that, no change
Coolant sensor replacement - Done that, no change
Catacean through system - Done that, no change
Spark plugs and coil packs replacements - Done that, no change
Removed air filter in case clogged an that hasn't helped either. There are no codes coming up when I scan it either.
I have a couple of theories though. MAP sensor? If so how can I check this is working?
Air leak at air intake manifold at throttle body connection? as there are no other air intake pipes and no ICV on this engine either.
The engine sounds a little 'tinny' metal ticking/tapping noise kind of noise, almost diesely but not as loud if you know what I mean.
Any other ides anyone?
