Hi everyone,
First post here so hope its to standard etc.
2000 Clio S 1.4 8v K7J
A month or so back the had gasket goes, nightmare. Managed to get it done by a mate of a mate for £590 all in (quite pleased with that!)
Now I've noticed that when idling when the engine is even just slightly warm the engine is spluttering and the revs stay at around 500 but the rev counter jumps up and down a bit, never above 1000.
When starting up straight from cold it sits at 1000 revs perfectly, just as soon as it warms up slightly the problem starts.
Also when going up hill in 2nd or 3rd at between 2000-3000 revs there will be loss of power, i have to pump the clutch and rev it a bit and it responds.
The mechanic who did the head suggested I try some cataclean as it could be build up of stuff from coolant running through the exhaust system... it hasnt seemed to have done much.
I am now starting to think its either lambda, map or engine coolant temp sensor.
Only oil and battery lights on with coils on but these disapear once I start the engine.
My next step is to try remove the lambda sensor and see whether its clogged up with crap.. but not really had the time or daylight yet.
Am I on the right track here?
Thanks for taking the time to read and sorry for the ramble!
