Ok.. I hope someone will be able to help me out here. Garage have said it could be a blank cheque repair, I think there will be someone who'll know the cause.
Last weekend, tried reversing out my partners drive.. :d Steady now!! I had a loss of power and it was a fight to get out. Drove home doing a full 20 mph. I'd had this in the past with an Alfa and it was a duff EGR. Now, I have two Rx4's, so took the EGR out the other and swapped them.. hey presto, car was fine. Whist removing the old egr, I found the end disc/valve was actually detached. When putting my finger in the chamber, there was a large lump of carbon that had fallen down the pipe at the back. On Tuesday, I drove the car to the bank, all was fine, until I left to return. I had the glowplug/fuel filter warning light on. This was on when the car initially went belly. Stopped in the village for coffee, then left for home and there was a faint whistle :( Took the car to the garage and we went for a wee drive. Owner explained the noise sounded like air, not damaged turbo.. :d Phew!! Left the garage and 3 miles down the road, same problem as at my partners.. no power!! :( Garage came and took the car back. After 45 minutes come and tell me they have no idea what has gone wrong and "how much can you throw at this car?" My heads really messed up here. Is this a jammed turbo, 2nd egr issue, the lump of carbon fouling the air pipe, or something worse? Any ideas folks..??
