I've got a 2004 Megane 1.6 vvt with 65k on the clock; every time I start the engine when cold, I have to keep my foot lightly on the accelerator for a few seconds - the revs jump up and down (+- 250ish rpm) , the car judders and the interior lights flicker.... There is also a strong smell of petrol. However, as soon as the car has warmed up, it can be restarted no problems at all.
The Cambelt + dephaser pulley were changed at 59k last year; there are no horrible noises on startup and mpg is good so assuming it's not the dephaser problem.
I've changed the spark plugs, all four coils, cleaned the TDC sensor and throttle body and done an oil + air filter change but still the problem persists and I'm running out of ideas!
There are no warning messages / lights on the dash and I've connected an OBD II reader and shows no faults.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
