I've got a Renault Megane Scenic 2001 1.6 petrol. It was having some erratic starting problems where some days it would not start on the first key turn. Then it would start after a minute or two after a few turns.
Now its not starting at all. All the lights on the dash come off and go off as normal and the radio and central locking all work so didnt think it was the battery but i checked it anyway and its fine.
Today I had the TDC sensor out which was really dirty and had filings all over it. I cleaned it up and had hoped it would do the trick but still nothing.
The engine doesnt even try to turn over. RAC said its the starter motor, but i cant see the starter motor so guessing its behind the engine and a pig to replace.
any ideas and is it worth me getting a new TDC sensor first before I take it to a garage and spend too much money on labour and vat. :) on getting a new starter.
