54 plate 1.9 Deisel P6 gearbox. Had horrendous problems with Laguna. Replacement gearbox was fitted after previous one punched a whole in the side of the box. Been going ok with the replacement box for the past four months or so. This morning went out after about half a mile I stopped the car and as i was stopping it seems to "drag" (best way i can describe it) I stopped at a shop. When I came back out and started I felt things a bit "suspect"drove a couple of hundred yards and there was a huge drag then a bang from the left hand side of the engine. The car stopped - although the engine kept running ok. I ten tried to drive but there was "nothing". I stopped the engine and restarted it ok put it into first and it drove but with a horrible noise - almost like a driveshaft problem. I managed to "nurse" it back home - about 500 yards in first gear with that horrible noise. I stopped at my home and tried selecting reverse. It selected but no drive? It will go forward but not back? Is this gearbox (again) or is it driveshaft? Had horrendous problems with this car! Opinions would be appreciated.
