loud squeak when turning my steering right

i am really after some knowledgeable advice regarding an issue with my 2007 Renault megane. When turning right there is a loud squeaking noise which can be heard both inside and outside the vehicle. it sounds rubbery and has got worse over the past few weeks. I want to narrow the fault down so i don't get robbed by a garage telling me it is something it is not. My car recently passes it's MOT and had an advisory relating the the suspension. This was play in steering rack inner joint/s so wondering whether it is something to do with that?
