Aircon freezing Megane 3
Hi everyone,i have a megane 3 2012 model,i was driving yesterday, after 30mins,i noticed that the air conditioning on my car is not normal,it's not blowing enough air and cooling inside the car, also, the fan becomes so noisy, after an hour of driving,i decided to stop to check what's goin on,lo and behold!i saw that the tubes of the air conditioning is freezing, perhaps there is some blockage in the compressor or somewhere?5 days before it happened,i remember spraying a product to eliminate bad smell on the aircon intake,is it a possibility that it blocked the compressor?or there might be other cause for this?anyone experienced this?i have here attached the photo, pls help...thanks

Renault Master lll 2015 125 fwd M9T870
Hi,
Such a wealth of info I just had to join. I hope I can add something after this small problem and hope it helps others.

Started the engine and drove for about 300mtrs. Engine stopped and 'Injection fault' displayed on dash. Rac said there were some codes but cleared them as he said that they would not stop the engine from running.
Dash does not now show injection fault but engine will not start and I have no buzzing sound when I turn on ignition. I have tried priming fuel with a bulb that I have introduced to the fuel line but this does not work as It will not drag up fuel from the tank. This I assume is because there is a pump somewhere in line.
I have checked all fuses that I can access and checked some relays to see if they click at all by swapping them out to another location with the same relay. I cannot find much info on this model at all and hope maybe someone on this forum maybe able to help.
many thanks

Modus with a spongy clutch pedal.
Not really been an issue but now my daughter is learning to drive it really needs to be more positive.
Doesent bother me and the wife but it has no 'feel' to help the daughter get a handle on things.
if I hear "But in my instructors car!", one more time.

I understand its a concentric slave cyl, (how to make something hard). Im guessing at 150000 miles bleeding is more than likely the answer.

Any pointers, maybe a picture of what im looking for. Or do I just trace from the MC down to the bell housing where I should find something? Sounds a bit weak but I don't know so figured i'd ask.
Radio Error Code
Hi, I***8217;ve recently had ***8216;USB Error***8217; code appear in my 13 plate scenic, it still charges my phone however unable to load anything through the system such as music, online radio ect
Anyone able to advise?
I***8217;ve changed the cable to a brand new one, still same issue.
Thanks!
Scenic II RHD to LHD headlight replacement
I need to get a UK reg. Scenic II (reg. Oct. 2008) through a Spanish ITV (MoT) as part of the process of permanent export. This requires headlight replacement. Can anyone advise that I must use 2006-09 spec. headlights or will any of the Scenic II headlight versions fit? I'm trying to source from breakers here ideally, but will use motor factors if necessary. Essential for the correct spec. for either and I'm not in position to remove an existing headlight to check first. Thanks
Renault Megane 2 CC Clutch Bleeding.
Hey,

So 2weeks ago the mechanic changed the flywheel and clutch because the trust had somewhat broken down. After those where replaced i went to try it out and the pedal was giving me only half way. When i told him about it, he told me that the master Cylinder needs to be changed. Having said that before doing to master cylinder, we had bleed it out but still air was still getting in.

Today we changed the Master Cylinder but still air is still going in and the pedal is coming up only half. Occasionally it does go up all the way but when driving it will go down instantly and stay at half way.

Any one got any tips on what this might be?

Regards.
Thanks in Advance.

Clio - Window Off Track
Hi All, hoping this is in the right place so apologies if not

Running an 04 Clio Dynamique 3 door, and the drivers side window is now moving out of "track" (dont know how else to describe it) when its being raised. You can still shift it into position by hand, but it's obviously not ideal

So I've taken the door trim off, removed the motor and had a look at the regulator clips. It was missing a small white clip at the bottom which I've since replaced, and thats improved things a little. It now moves out of track in the last few inches, as opposed to half way.

That being said, it still comes a long way out when rising. I now can't fathom whats going wrong. The tracks are ok, the clips are ok and the motor is fine.

I've attached pictures, can anyone point me in the right direction please? There is a small hole on the side of the window, so don't know if that has anything to do with it. There was some shattered glass inside the door, so don't know if the glass thats in is standard, and if the standard glass has this hole? That being said, I dont think the glass is the problem as it's been working fine up until now!

So, can anyone help? Thanks in advance :)

Thanks
Andy

Kangoo dCi 1.5 airlocks in coolant system

Renault Forums :: Independent Renault forum
Kangoo dCi 1.5 airlocks in coolant system
Hi there, I have a problem on my 2007 Kangoo Expression, whereby the coolant level is going up and down in the expansion tank far more than it should be. For example, this morning, the level was about an inch below the minimum mark, i.e. practically empty. I started the engine and took off the cap on the expansion tank, within 2 or 3 minutes of starting the level was back up to half way between the Max and min marks, and then after about 6 or 7 minutes of just idling, the liquid started overflowing from the open expansion tank. That was while the temperature guage on the panel was still reading at its lowest mark and the fan had not cut in. I shut the engine off and let it cool down a bit for an hour or so and the level had gone down to the max mark. From reading the other posts in this category, it sounds like the problem would either be an airlock in the system or perhaps a faulty thermostat. Its been doing this for a month or so and I have tried purging the air myself by letting it run on idle or on steady revs for 10-20 minutes with the heater on full, and I took it to a Renault dealer the other day who purged and refilled the whole system. I also kept an eye out for oil in the coolant and water emulsion in the oil and white exhaust fumes, none of which are occurring, neither is there any bubbling of air in the expansion tank, at least as far as I can see. So I think we ruled out a leak in the head gasket. The thermoguage can fluctuate from low to normal a bit around the time that the engine should have reached its ideal temperature after 10-15minutes driving, presumably that due to the thermostat opening, and the engine doesn't seem to be overheating at all. But there still seems to be small amounts of air getting into the system and causing occasionally the fluid to escape out of the filler cap after a longish drive (this is what caused me to start checking on it regularly, as there was a wetness around the base of the filler cap and pools of yellow liquid on the suspension and other struts beneath the expansion tank). For info, the timing belt and water pump were replaced last year, just 10,000 miles ago. I'll try to post two photos I took this morning about 6 minutes apart.
I just wondered if this is a classic case of a persistent airlock in the system, which I just have to keep trying to purge, or maybe something more serious?

2007 Megane CC 2.0 Petrol Auto Engine Timing
Hi all,

Paul in Perth Australia here.

I have just bought a 2007 Megane CC 2.0 F4R Auto.

On my way home after around 80Km the oil pressure warning came on the dash :(

I got the car home and checked the oil which was fine.

Then tried to remove rocker cover (apparently Renault do not allow this unless you strip the engine down fully) :)

There seems to be a leak coming from the Timing cover (Strange I know) That should be dry.

I have done some diagnosis and want to start looking a little deeper.

1) drained engine oil and checked for metal. None found.

2) removed oil filter and split open to check for metal. None found.

3) tried to set engine to TDC. Cannot find any timing marks.

Can you please help me I need to find TDC no.1 so I can remove the timing covers and crank pulley.

Any tips help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

1999 Megane 1.6 petrol starting problem.
Hi everyone,

My problem is now just annoying.

If i keep pressing on the accelerator (up and down rapidly) when turning the engine over, after about 30 seconds it splutters into life, and if i keep the revs high for about a minute and gently release the throttle pedal, it does tick over.
If i let the revs drop after starting, it stalls.
when it is warmed up, i can turn it off and it will start normally and idle.
however it runs really lumpy, and when i took the plugs out they were seriously sooted.
it doesn't seem to rev freely either, it hesitates and splutters a bit then catches.
I can restart it for about an hour then its back to the long turning over and pushing the pedal etc.

so far I have changed the TDC sensor.

The idle solenoid.

2 Coil packs.

Brand new Bosch battery.

Spark plugs Bosch super 4's.

All of the relays.

The fuses related to fuel, spark and emissions.

And the big expense the Fuel pump.

Fuel filter.

Near £380 down, and still exactly the same, absolutely no change whatsoever.

I'm out of money and ideas, i would appreciate any cheap fixes for this problem please.

The ELM 27 diagnostics show no faults at all!/

I'm beginning to hate this car.

Many thanks

Trafic clutch bleeding.
I hope someone can shed some light on this problem, having read all about bleeding these clutches I find it still had a problem so I changed the master cylinder. I clamped the pipe from the feed on the brake master cylinder and changed the cylinder no problem but after trying to bleed it without much success I traced thins back and the pipe from the brake reservoir was empty so I took the pipe off the brake reservoir expecting fluid to leak out and nothing so I took the cap off the reservoir expecting gravity to take over and fluid to drain from the reservoir but nothing !! Am I missing something here? or does it work in a different way?

Clio IV Gearbox Whine
Hi guys,
Just wondering whether anyone had any experience with this- and indeed any solutions.

I***8217;ve got a Clio IV DCI 110 with the 6 speed box used in the Captur etc.

The Gearbox is completely silent apart from I get a whine between 77 and 81mph. It only happens on a light trailing throttle- and it does it in 5th and 6th.

If you dip the clutch it goes away completely so I***8217;m guessing it***8217;s more Gearbox than diff.

Now the annoying part is- the car is a year old with 15,000 miles on it.
Renault have claimed it***8217;s normal Gearbox noise but it is extremely annoying as I do 99% motorway journeys (hence me getting a 110 so I get the 6th gear).

Any ideas/experiences/solutions welcome!!

Many Thanks

Excessive vibration at 50mph
Hi everyone, I wondering if someone could help!

I am writing for a friend actually here! Honest!

Here's the story

9 months ago, my friend bought a renault clio 1.4 16v 06 plate. Got it cheap, but 3 months later was advised to replace the cambelt, at 80k.

He took it to this garage, not an official dealer but they seem ok.
They replaced everything as you would expect, pulley, belt, pump. And they also did the main service.

Now, since taking the car from the garage, there was extremely excessive vibration throughout the car from 50mph+. Not through the steering wheel though, the whole car just vibrated. The engine also shook quite aggressively when revved (this was after the following) Based on what he told me, I suggested wheel balancing and wheel alignment, but everything was spot on. He has had it back at the garage several times with them changing the offside driveshaft and cv boot. Testing it with other wheels off same model, and god knows what else! But none of these of these solved anything.

This is where I come in. A fairly well mechanically knowledgable friend, but this has been a puzzler for me

I looked up the clio cambelt change and noticed it's not the average cambelt change. So I have checked everything is lined up and the tension is good. No problems, no noises. Nothing.

Anyways, I took the air intake pipe block off, checked for any blockages and spark plugs. Although one of the bolts holding down the ignition plug is threaded. It's loose as a goose. I tried tightening it up as much as I can with temporary measures. But I can't really see that as causing a huge problem without the obvious misfire. But I'll be helicoiling that next week.
I have checked all the mounts and bushes, they seem perfectly good, and within tolerances.

Now, since I stripped all that and put it back together, the vibration has improved massively! It's no longer at 50mph, but starts at 70mph but nowhere near what was experienced originally

I just hope someone has come across before, as I'm absolutely stumped now!
He refuses to take it back to the garage as they will charge him for new parts put on! He doesn't want the hassle anymore, but I have stepped in and said I'll try and sort it for him.

Thanks for reading
Ben

2006 Scenic Rough Idle - "Check Emissions"
Hello all,

My partner's Scenic has rough idle and runs lumpy. It displays 'Check Emissions'. I checked with my OBD2 tool and the code is under DTC, na 01/01. Not sure if this is just a generic code or not?

After some searching myself, it seems like changing the coil pack might be a good place to start but I thought I would ask on here and check first.

Any help appreciated!

Ambulance electrics
Morning all.
New top all this. I've just purchased a newly converted 2007 master ambulance. The previous owner hasn't touched the electrics.
When I came out the other day, the battery was flat and gone. I've fitted a new battery and done a parasitic battery check, and the system seems to be drawing about 1.2 amps. When I disconnect some of the ambulance equipment it drops considerably. Why would the system be drawing? I thought the VSRs work to isolate the system when the engine isn't running.
I've attached a pic of under the driver seat and the mission equipment to help.
If any one has advice or even wiring diagrams of this I would be very appreciative.
Thanks
Dan

Renault Laguna 3 2.0 dCi engine mounts
Hi.I was wondering how do you know how to recognise bad engine mounts.I have a Laguna 3 with the 2.0 dCi engine and when it is warm and summer the engine gives very litlle vibration. But when it comes winter time and it gets colder the engine starts to give a lot more vibration so much so that sometimes the dashboard starts to rattle. It still runs smooth and at minimum it is just that i guess the engine mounts get stiffer so i was wondering does anybody else have this problem or a solution. Cheers.
Goodbye
Well after 7 years and 148k miles of ownership (180k miles total) my little dci has lay down for the last time. It is now waiting to be crushed. Sad really.

Suspected catastrophic fuel pump failure. Quite unspectacular as it happens. In my ownership ran regularly on BP Ultimate. NEVER supermarket fuel. Not once. Serviced like clockwork, some may have argued that it was overserviced :grin2:

Anyway... On to the blue oval now for me - petrol of course.

Thanks for all the help over the years. Catch you all later.

Badly smoking from the exhaust and the engine baby.
Hello.
My 1.9dci (f9q820) Mk IV Espace has smoking really badly. I've spent most of today taking the top of the engine apart to see if I can get to the Turbo as I think that's where the problem lies. I've run into issues I didn't consider as I stupidly thought I'd be able to take the head off easily but that's not the case.
Am I going about this all wrong?

Hesitation On Hills When Engine Is Cold (MEGANE III)
Noticed this over the last few days. I start the car, drive up a few hills, notice hesitation and loss of power.
When the issue occurs, its as if I've lifted my foot off the gas. Other times it feels like it is struggling to build power.
As soon as the car has been running for over a minute or two, the issues goes away. I can drive all day long without any power delivery problem.

I had this with my previous Megane. Ended up getting worse. Had to replace coil pack in the end.
Fuel consumption has increased.
Oil level dropped by 1 circle (trip computer read out) after oil change 2.5k miles ago.
Plugs are 4 months old. Car has done 53k.

I thought about air leak but this would happen regardless of warm or cold engine.

Thank you.

Renault Scenic 54plate, not starting at all
Hi all, new to the forum - sorry if this is in the wrong thread. I have a problem similar to ones but slightly different. I went back to my car on Friday after driving it to work, when i put the keycard in, the card tried to fire up, but nothing. The dashboard displayed "low battery, low oil pressure, and parking brake fault" simultaneously. I gave it 5 minutes, and tried again. - nothing, the same result. I gave it another 10 minutes before trying again, when i got a message saying "electrical failure", and all the door lights coming on the dash (little car diagram). I called recovery - they tried the card in the slot and nothing, no messages on the dashboard, just the little red flashing immobilizer light. when i put the card in the slot, its like it isn't recognizing there is anything in there (doesn't say anything on dashboard). The battery is fine, I have central locking, i can turn the radio on, internal lights come on etc.

I am at a loose end as to what i might be and any help is appreciated before i have to take it into the garage

Many thanks,

Hi Guys, I***8217;m pretty new to Renault Forums, in fact this is my first post. The car itself is great but I think it lacks in the exhaust noise is produces. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Alan Hellmeister suffered two broken legs
Mercedes GT Open racer Alan Hellmeister suffered two broken legs in a horrific crash after the chequered flag in race two at Monza on Sunday.

His Mercedes-AMG GT3 suddenly veered to the right after crossing the finish line, and crashed head-on into the Armco barriers – just after the pit lane exit.

The impact was so violent that it tore away the front of the car, and the 32-year-old Brazilian sustained serious leg injuries.

Hellmeister’s car was catapulted across the track, and came to a standstill on the opposite side from the impact. The field was very densely packed at the finish, because there had been a one-lap sprint to the chequered flag after a safety car phase, but fortunately nobody hit his wrecked car.

Clio Mk2 - speedometer and accelerator doesn't work
Sometimes when i turn on my 2001 MK2 Clio (1.9D), the speedometer doesn't work but after a while driving it starts working again. Whats worse is that as long as the speedometer doesn't work, my accelerator doesn't work correctly either (but not every time). When i push in the accelerator, it gives gas in short bursts, it starts and stops, idk how to explain it. If i do not press the accelerator and let the car drive on its own, then there are no gas problems.

But as soon as the speedometer starts working again, the accelerator starts working correctly again too.
There are no warning lights on the dashboard while this is happening.

Hi there,

I was trying to replace the rear rotors and braking pads and ended up removing the entire caliper (big mistake) and unwinded the parking brake cable. I didn't finish the work and put the key card into the car and started up the engine, when turned off the engine the EPB system pulled the cable and now it's too tight there is no way to pull it off a bit to fit it again in the caliper. Is there anyway I can force the EPB to fully release the cables, or is there an emergency parking brake releaser like in the Scenic?

Another quick question, does the system give an braking fault error if braking fluid is too low?

Thank you,
2010 Grand Scenic front passenger window regulator ...
£450 to supply and fit at B*****s in Ipswich! Absolutely crazy or what?!?!?!?!

£282 just for the regulator itself excluding fitting and the (in my mind pointless) Diag check.

Having 11 month old baby triplets and working all week, I do not have the time to investigate myself and as the window could not be secured fully, we were at the mercy of who could repair it in the short term whilst i am at work.

Sorry for the moan but £450 is simply ridiculous.

Rant over.
Faulty dash
Hiya, i have a 2005 renault trafic , only picked it up the weekend , now i have noticed when the headlights are switched on the dash stays u does not iluminate any ideas guys?
Is there a PCV valve on 2005 Espace 1.9 dci ??
I have looked at the entire breather system from the big breather box which is part of the dipstick tube right all the way to the big air inlet hose. No valve there. And the breather box looks like the same part as on previous espace, scenics, master, traffic etc.

Trying to eliminate if its PCV valve as I have a good amount of oil seeping from the turbo air inlet, enough to make a mess over back of engine. If there is no PCV valve its not that. There does appear to be some moderate blowby from the oil filler cap, but I dont know enough to tell. Its a new turbo so it cant have blown seals already I hope, but rather that is causing the blowby than piston rings. i hope its not piston rings, only got 75,000 miles on it, but it might explain the occasional black smoke, but maybe thats a fuel problem. Still drives fine mind you with full power.. but looks like a compression check is required..

I presume renault has removed the PCV valve due to the problems it caused and its just a straight through ventilation system now ?
Clio 1997 1.4 Auto Exhaust Rattle
Hi,

I have an annoying rattle, mostly at idle/low revs. I think I have identified the source as the front heatshield. Looking at it, there is a part at the back of the heatshield where it goes all the way round the pipe and there is a bit of play there (pic attached - part in question is to the left where there is a bolt pointing down). This seems odd to me, is there a bush missing or something? Does anyone have an EPC diagram they could share? Car is a C57J I think, 1.4 Auto, 1997 RT model. Thanks in advance

Grand Scenic MK3 (2010) driver door lock locked.

Renault Forums :: Independent Renault forum
Grand Scenic MK3 (2010) driver door lock locked.
Hi all, I have a 2010 Renault Grand Scenic and the drivers door doesn't unlock any more with the remote central locking, all the other doors work ok. The lock can still be closed with the central locking.

I'm lead to believe from searching around the web that its the door lock actuator / solenoid that needs replacing, but i can't find the part anywhere for the MK3 Scenic, does anyone know the part number so I can search with that instead. The only thing i found was the full lock which was ~£90 i was hoping for just the actuator at ~£10

many thanks
Clio MK2 uneven air vents blowing
Hi,

I have asked on forum in mine native language but did not get any answer.
Recently i got Clio MK2 1.2 16V

But i have one minor issue, with air vents.
When AC is on centered two grills are blowing ok, but left and right are blowing but not equal as center grills, air flow is weaker.

My dad also have same Clio model and blowing is equal on all grills.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
Injection Fault
I have a 2008 RENAULT MEGANE DYNAMIQUE VVT 1598cc PETROL automatic transmission. It momentarily goes into idle and will not accelerate and i then have to take my foot of the accelerator for a moment then back on and it then picks up again. twice now has it gone into idle mode longer and will not pick up whatever I do until i turn the engine off and on again then it's all good just the momentary idle from time to time. The second time it beeped and the message injection fault came up. When it all started i was in cruise control mode on the motorway and it suddenly disengaged from cruise and I just accelerated and turned it back on and once in a while it would do that when in cruise control mode and then now it's as described above.
Traffic brake pedal creep
Hi everyone I have just bought a 2011 Renault traffic 115 that I am experiencing brake pedal creep with. I have changed the discs and pads on the front and back and all pistons, levers and cables were moving freely. I have done about 500 miles since changing all these, so they should be all bedded in. I have thoroughly checked the whole system for any signs of leaks and there aren’t any, I have pressure bled the whole system so no air or old fluid in the system.
Now although the van stops very well under normal driving conditions the pedal does feel a little spongy but I get good stopping power.
Now if I stop at traffic lights and keep my foot on the brake while the van is idling the pedal gradually creeps down to the floor. Once I pull my foot off the pedal and re apply then I have brake again and it starts to creep to the floor again.
If I pump the brake pedal while the engine is off until the pedal is firm and I keep applying pressure then the pedal doesn’t creep so don’t think there is an issue with the master cylinder.
After extensive research on the internet I’m getting the impression that this is normal due to manufacturers using dual diaphragm boosters to get the stopping power needed to stop larger heavier vehicles.
Does anyone else out there have a van that does the same ?
Or does anyone know if this is normal or not ?
Or if there is a problem with the brakes on my van ?
Greetings from Rijeka Croatia
Hi guys.

I am Josip (Joseph in english), from Rijeka Croatia.
Recently got Renault Clio MK2, 2004, 1.2 16V in very good condition.

Of course i will have some questions about it.
Thanks.
Clio mk2 one-off battery problem?
So yesterday after I finished work at 2am I get in my car turn the engine and it just does not want to start up... the engine cranks and is being responsive. I replaced the spark plugs so that is out of the equation and I had to jump start my car which turned over immediately without any probs, bearing in mind it was freezing outside could it be cold weather? Since then my car has been starting without any problems now im just thinking which part is slowly diminishing?
Bonjour..........
Hello (my French is just about limited to just the thread title!),

Well, having nosed about the site this last few weeks, I thought I had better join and say hello.

I have just ordered a brand-new Renault Koleos 2.0 dci Signature Nav 4WD in Admiral Blue, due for delivery in Mid-November.

I hit the options list and took all the options offered (well, actually there was only one option offered - a space saver tyre! Anyway, I am having it as the dealer is throwing it in FOC).

It is my first Renault for many years, having way-back had a Renault Laguna as a company car. This time I thought I would have a change away from the more common SUV's knocking around and go for something a little different.

No doubt I will be asking a few questions once I get it, particularly as it seems loaded with 'toys' to play around with (and which no doubt I will manage to break!).

2006 Clio 1.5 dci - Ignition barrel replacement - Lug won't move
Hey guys.

So I’ve worked out that I need to replace my ignition barrel on my 2006 Clio 1.5 dci; thanks to some helpful guys conforming my assessment here: (https://www.renaultforums.co.uk/17-e...ving-help.html)

I’ve striped the shroud down and removed the wires connected to the ignition barrel. However, I’ve hit a snag at the last step.

My Haynes manual and YouTube videos that I’ve watched say to turn the key to a certain point then depress the lug (with a screwdriver) at the back of the ignition, to release the barrel.

However when I turn the key to this position the lug wont budge, no matter how hard I push.
I have tried moving the key very slowly throughout its entire turning motion. I've tried stopping at every mm of that turning motion. I’ve tried wiggling and shaking the key and barrel. I’ve tried tapping gently on the screwdriver with a hammer.

No matter what I try I can’t get that lug to push in, so I can remove the barrel.

Am I being dumb, or is there a special knack to this, or a trick that I can use to make this lug push in?

I've attached a couple of pictures to be clear.

Thanks in advance.

Please help me identify a bolt
Please can someone with the software or knowledge help me identify the bolt (and nut) in this picture.
Having a saga with a dodgy garage, I'm going to have to cut the remains out myself and fit a new one.
The pic is of the Offside, but I need the Nearside if there is a difference.
If I can get a part number, it would be great thanks.

Megane 2 1.5dci 60kw wont start
Hi,

So today my car didn't start. It used to not start for the first attempt after parked for like 20minutes, then I would press start button again and she would start. But time went by, and this problem got more serious. Now it sometimes won't start at all, like today. Timing belt has been replaced, oil, fuel, air filters have been replaced few months ago. After it didn't start at all for the first time in the morning, the same day in the evening I came home after work, tried to start her and she started with the very first push of the start button. I drove it right away to closest workshop for mechanics to take a look. They said it was a TDC sensor issue, I think. They replaced it and had no issues with starting for a few days. Then not more than a week later, same thing happened. It's cranking, but does not start. Before that, I bought that cheap OBD2 scanner, ELM327 I think, it showed me two errors: TDC sensor (P0340) and something related with glow plugs (P0670). Gladly my car didn't start near the garage where timing belt was changed. They connected tablet to the car and took a look at fault codes, they were the same that I was getting. They took a look at timing belt, and saw that it was miss-positioned by one tooth (they said they put it on the first time the same way the old one was on, but now they bought some kind of tool and noticed that one tooth possition issue). They put the belt the right way, and car kinda changed. No more P0340 error. 5 days has passed, and during that time it once started during 4th attempt. And now it does not start at all, is cranking but without luck. Tried pumping with primary pump, no luck. It's +12 degrees of Celsius outside (lately it was much warmer when car start issues were gone, like +26 degrees of Celsius).

Can this problem be because of P0670 error? Mechanics say that the weather should be alright now and glow plugs should not be used for starting.
Under bonnet fuse board
Me trying to be clever and remove fuse board to check fuses without moving anything else i cought the live feed to the fuse board on the negative battery terminal.
Anyway after finally removing checking what i needed to and replacing everything i have no power to instrument panel stop/start etc
What fuse coulad i have blown that maybe feeds the fuse board
Your help is much appreciated

Rear lights
Hi there. I've a 2015 renault trafic. Both my rear side lights have stopped working. I've replaced both bulbs but they still don't work. All other lights in the cluster including the brake lights work. Any idea??
What's under the hood -tutorial?
I concider myself a totally noob with all car related things and have had quite a steep learning curve on car's internal life when I bought my first Renault Megane with over 200000 miles on it. I've thought that if you want to learn about cars, buy a used Renault :D.

Since most car owners seem to have some basic clue on how engine works and what is found where and what this and that does, I haven't been so "lucky" (I blame myself for never studying car stuff). Even covering the basic do-it-yourself maintanance.

Sooo... what I'm going with this is that would anyone who knows this stuff be interested in arranging a somekind of tutorial-kinda youtube -channel for us noobs to follow before we flood the forums asking very basic and general stuff? Like Renault only specific (Renaul Forums youtube-channel) stuff so that we don't get mixed up with other makes and their configurations. Or if there is a channel like this then please share them here!

Why I'm suggesting this is that it's pretty difficult to find good guides on the net specifically to a certain engine model. So searching for a certain mechanical part's location under the hood takes hours of browsing youtube and net where somebody might have the similar problem or configuration in their car. Then that feel of triumph that you finally can name a part under the hood :D.

Just a suggestion :).
Blowers
Hi guys I have a 2016 clio but the blowers are rubbish on it it takes for ever to clear the windscreen and if me and my kids are in the car it sometimes doesn't clear and no matter what I put the switch to the air keeps coming out of the passenger footwell any ideas thanks
Radio Code On Startup
Hiya

I picked up a Renault yesterday from the dealership and pretty much every time I start the engine, the SatNav asks for a 4 digit radio code.

The dealership were able to provide me with the code which does unlock the unit until the next time I start the engine where it asks me for the code again.

Wondering if anyone knows how to stop the unit asking for the code every time?

I'd check the manual but Renault didn't bother to give me one so they're sending one out in the post.

Cheers
Repair or Writeoff?
This evening whilst traveling home from holiday. 2 miles from home and been hit by a lorry
Coming off an island he was at the side of me but decided to change lane
He hit the back quarter, spun me sidewards onto the front of the lorry and pushed us sideways down the road.
Everyone ok
The drivers door took the impact
Damage to back quarter, alloy wheel front wing
Sill looks ok
Given the age and mileage 2005 150k
Will it be repaired?
If not how do I gauge the value?
In the time I have owned the car I have changed the clutch, engine sensors and put in a red leather interior

Advice or opinions appreciated

Cheers

Sept. 20, 2018 — It is with heavy hearts that we express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Sprint Car driver Greg Hodnett and the Heffner Racing team.

Hodnett, 49, of Spring Grove, PA, passed away following a crash during a Sprint Car race Thursday night at BAPS Motor Speedway.

ACC source ...

I've just taken delivery of a tracker (Red wire + Black wire - and Yellow wire ACC) that I want to fit to the car (Koleos 2012) but before I start ripping the dash apart to fit the thing, can anyone tell me where I can locate a convenient source for the ACC apart from the back of the radio head unit as I'm not too keen to start dismantling the interior ???

OK... where is the idle control valve? :)
So my quest for engine knowledge is on a good start but for the life of me I can't find that mysterious idle control valve anywhere on my Megane 2. Seems like all other Renaults have it but not mine!

Well, I DID run into this bit of information that it might also be the "solenoid valve" (what a nice sketchy generalisation) located in this picture with a red arrow. Could this cause bad idling if clogged? What's it called? (No, please don't say solenoid valve, it must have something more to it's name or purpose, right?)

If this is THE valve for idling, is it cleanable with WD 40 as well?

Is it safe to disconnect the hose from it and try starting the car to see if it causes the idle stalling like this guy has done it here:

Thanks for any help!

Renault Megane GT Line Hatch 2013 - Electrical Issues
Hi there,
We are looking to see if anyone else has had similar issues with their Renault Megane GT Line Hatch 2013 - Electrical Issues.
In 2017 the car park brake wouldn't release and kept coming up with error messages about the park break, car would not move. Next day issue and error message disappeared, took it to Renault mechanic and they could not find a fault. Then 2 days later a message popped up, saying check control functions and car would not start. Got the car back to the Mechanic and they said it was the starter motor and replaced it, the car kept having electrical issues on and off, often stating check control functions. The warranty expired 28/08/18 and yesterday 18/09/18 car was started and drove down the street, car felt like it was not wanting to go, it was tugging. Error message "gear box fail" Called road side service, they tested the electrics and got a different error message for Glow Plug P0380 Glow plug/heater circuit, then message disappeared, the guy took it for a test drive and noticed once the car hit over 3000rpm the car felt like it went into free play, almost as if it wasn't changing gears "its a automatic car, but he described it like as if the clutch was gone on a manual". I phoned Renault and they took all the details and after a 20 min conversation and organising the car to be towed to them he proceeded to tell me that no one can take a look until 4/10/18, we then had it towed to the road side service guys workshop. We had a call from them today saying the car is starting, no error message appearing but all lights are on, engine, oil etc. I feel there is something seriously wrong with the electrics on this car but need to prove to Renault, these issues have been happening for years even during the warranty period. Has anyone had similar issues?

Oh no...New Master gearbox has different slave system..
Hi all, MARE!
Long story short, 2004 2.5dci 100 bought with 2.8 dti lump with pf1 018 knackered box in it, engine dropped a valve, bought falling to bits 2001 older face 2.8 dti master donor with great engine and pf1 008 box. Getting lump ready for transplanting and just noticed the original knackered box on my van doesn't have a bleed nipple / connector but a pull cable thing.
Just looked at the master on servo and they're completely different as in pics, I took the servo and master off the donor purely as they looked new, I'm hoping now that was a very good move? .
What am I going to do to adapt? could I swap slave systems over in the boxes or would the servo and master off the donor be good for adapting. Unfortunately I didn't take any pipe work but have a flare and plenty of pipe if that's the way to go. I'm guessing I'd need a delivery pipe to attach to slave nipple, what's the name of that please?
Tia. Sorry about essay.

A Pirate walked into a bar and the bartender said, “Hey, I haven’t seen you in a while. What happened? You look terrible.”
“What do you mean?” said the Pirate, “I feel fine.”
“What about the wooden leg? You didn’t have that before.”
“Arr, well,” said the Pirate, “We were in a battle, and I got hit with a cannon ball, but I’m fine now.”
The bartender replied, “Well, OK, but what about that hook? What happened to your hand?”
The pirate explained, “We were in another battle. I boarded a ship and got into a sword fight. My hand was cut off. I got fitted with a hook, but I’m fine, really.”
“What about that eye patch?”
“Arrrr, well” said the pirate, “One day we were at sea, and a flock of a big fat Albatross flew over. As I looked up, the ******* thing only went and shat in me eye didn't it, Arrrr!”
“You’re kidding,” said the bartender. “You couldn’t lose an eye just from birdsh|t”
“Arr, bejasus lad it was me first day with this feckin hook!”

"Viens a moi? Wossat that mean then?"
A clerk offered some help.
"Viens a moi, ladies, is French for 'come to me.'"
Sharon took another sniff.
"That don't smell like come to me," she said, offering her arm to her friend again.
"Does that smell like come to you?" :wink2:>:)
Megan's 54 convertible 2.0 battery starting issue **Fixed**
Hi all
Can anyone offer any advice regarding my megane? Have recently got car but have yet to start it! I got it off a friend that had not used it in 2 years and been sat in the yard getting covered in mould and spiderwebs!

My friend said it would probably need a new battery but everything else is good. So went to see if I could jump start to get it home but not even enough power to open the locks so used the key.

So took battery off and took home to charge but battery wasn't charging so bought a new one.

Connected it to the car and yes the key card opened the doors and pressed the start button with brake pedal down and she really sounded like she wanted to start but sounded like there was no fuel getting thro. I couldn't tell u what the dash board lights were doing as I am scared of spiders and could not sit near it.

I have seen in various sites that the immobiliser probably needs to test and have read there is probably a reset sequence but unsure of this as most of them say turn key to ignition on and this is a card and button start! Is there another way?

Sorry for long te,t but wanted to give u as much info as I can!
Renault Laguna 3 with Check injection fault
Hi. Recently i have had problems with my Laguna 3 2.0 dci. It displays the check injection system error and enters the safe mode for the engine. It has done around 180000km and i was wondering if anyone knows about this or have had the same problem. I’m gueesing it is due to the dpf filter and the mechanic saw that there was something wrong with some dpf filter sensor but hasnt yet started reparing anything.
Cheers.

Poor MPG (MEGANE III)

Renault Forums :: Independent Renault forum
Poor MPG (MEGANE III)
Normally my MPG is good. A week back I drove 15 miles with petrol light on. The next day I filled tank to 1/2, covered 200 miles on the motorway. A few days later, filled tank to 1/2 again.

Range was at 300 miles at this point. Left car for 4 days without use. Over the last 3 days I've covered 50 miles (urban driving). Range now reports 190. This isn't normal for my car.

Gentle acceleration, no engine laboring, typically don't exceed 2500 revs. Sometimes 3000 revs if changing gear up hill. Just depends.

Oil, filter, plugs, air, coolant, thermostat housing, battery, all changed within last few months.

Something clogged from running into the red? (Fuel injectors, fuel filter, pump)
Can an internally leaking thermostat housing cause poor MPG?

Battery upgraded from 43AH to 70AH. Could the need for more charging reduce MPG?

The Rear rotor grabs slightly which I'll be fixing next week (caliper needs looking at). I know this may reduce MPG due to extra drag, but surely not by a massive amount?

Scenic III 2009 (59 plate) 1.4dCi - Heater Blower Failure
Hello

Having put the car through a car wash today (I know!), I have found that the heater blower no longer works. Aircon light comes on, but that's it!

There is water in the footwell compartment underneath the mat (drivers side), and having looked at the reason for this I have found that the drain pipes on both sides starting in the cavity under the wiper blades can become blocked and it all backs up. There is also evidence to suggest that blocked tubes have gone on to cause issues with the heater blower on other Renault models. I have seen threads on here for 2004 Grand Scenic, Mk II Scenics Meganes etc., to cover off replacing resistor packs (nightmare!) including one which pointed to debris from excess water issues mentioned above being pushed into and around the fan motor /blades assembly. But I can see nothing for a Scenic III - hence this post and the following questions:

(i) Does anyone please know whether or not it is possible to see into the heating system pipework / fan assembly and, with care, endeavour to establish whether or not the fins are free to move - and, if so, how? An excellent post from "ACHAP" in August 2015 showed how to do this for a 2010 Megane III. Something like that for a Scenic III, if it's possible, would be of enormous help.

(ii) Does anyone please know where to find and how to access the resistor pack on a Scenic III? I've had the upper dashbard trim out and had a look and feel around the screen and can see / feel nothing. It may be behind the glovebox, but a steer on this before I start taking it all apart for nothing would gratefully acknowledged.

Hope you can help.
Alarm red LED flashing
Hi,
I have a new problem with my car. I have an Renault Grand Espace 2011
We all know (those with cars old 30-40+ years dont) if you look at a dashboard in a locked car that it has a red flashing LED light meaning that the car has an alarm.
It's all nice and good but when i unlock it, get in and start it, the LED start flashing fast and doesn't stop. The engine does turn on and I can drive around.
I have no clue what does it mean.

I hope anyone knows an answer or a solution.
2004 scenic electronic handbrake
Hi everyone. My father in law has a scenic 2004 1.6 petrol manual. Not sure on milage as he bought it with no history and it says 30000 on the clock so we know it isn***8217;t right. The problem he has is one he***8217;s had for about two years and that is it comes up with check parking brake on the dash. It never bothered him until they changed the rules on the mot and now his car failed due to the service light and triangle is on. What***8217;s the best way to try and get the lights off the dash? I have checked the fuse under passenger seat and that is fine. Tried the manual release but can***8217;t get it to release. The irritating thing is that the brake works perfect and he***8217;s had it checked over when it first came on dash and the garage said don***8217;t worry about it it won***8217;t affect anything, well up until they the mot rules.
Thanks for reading any help is appreciated.
Does a Megane Mk2 1.6L petrol 2006 model thermostat housing have oil galleries too?
Does a Megane Mk2 1.6L petrol 2006 model thermostat housing have oil galleries too? I'm aware the Megane Mk3 has a plastic thermostat housing which has both oil and water galleries and oil can get into the coolant if the seal fails or the plastic warps, etc,,,, is it the same for the Megane Mk2 1.6L petrol, 2006 cabriolet model?

Or what are all the ways oil can enter the coolant on a Mk2 1.6 petrol other than the head gasket?

Clio Mk3 dipped beam not working.
I had one outside dipped beam bulb not working and the other outside dipped beam worked for about 3 minutes before turning off. Turning engine off and restarting brought the single bulb back on again for about 3 mins then off again. Front of the car off, changed all bulbs. Still the same problem. Swapped relays around same problem. Now a day later all 4 dipped beam lamps are out. Just checked again, 1 lamp is on. It's driving me mad. Please if anyone has any ideas. Megan's 54 plate convertible 2.0 automatic battery change starting issue
Hi all
Can anyone offer any advice regarding my megane?

Laguna 3 electric handbrake problems
Hi

I have a 2008 Renault Laguna 3 1.9 dci 110 estate.

The electric handbrake is causing problems.

It has had intermittent problems where it would give a parking brake fault, and then when I started moving, it would release and no problem for a couple of days or weeks.

Now, it has gone into complete fault.

The ECU gives error code C1175.

With the engine running, I can put it in neutral, press the brake pedal and engage the electric handbrake. I can hear the brake engaging, but it sounds like it is overengaging a little, I can hear it engaging as normal and then there's an "ok, you've pulled your handbrake enough now buddy" squeak. Like when you pull a manual handbrake a little too much.

It does no longer auto release the brake, so I have to do press the brake pedal and then use the handbrake switch to disengage. This works just fine.

When engaged, it is rock solid, does not move, so it is working as it should.

When I connect to the ECU, it does not register the status of the handbrake, it is always registrering as "inactive" even when activated.

I have tried disconnecting the brake module underneath the car, sprayed it with contact cleaner spray. That did not fix the problem.
Brake fluid level has also been checked, it is as it should be.

Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong and how to fix?

Feel free to ask for more info if needed.
Engine failure hazard **Fixed**
Hi all.
Megane 3. 2010 1.6 petrol. I music variant
Inserted keycard. Engine failure hazard popped up. Car turned over but would not start.
Plugged in obd. Cleared fault. Engine turned over but battery almost flat from previous attempts.
Jump started car went for a run to charge battery. Car ran perfectly. No limp mode or reduced performance.
Car ran ok for about a day. Few short runs. Stopping and starting fine.
Car unfortunately unused for the next week.
Inserted keycard. Engine failure hazard popped up. Plugged in obd. Cleared fault. Car turns over but won't start and after 3 short attempts the battery is low on power.
I suspect this is the original battery supplied with the car (not 100% sure) and it has been suggested to me that when batteries are on their way out they tend to throw up some warning messages on the megane. I realise it may also be one of the myriad of sensors on the car but am curious to know if anyone else has experienced a similar set of circumstances.
The obd does not show any specific fault codes and when the car was starting it was running fine.
Intermittent random fault warnings
I have a 62 reg Scenic Tomtom Dynamique 1.6 dCi. Following an accident, I've been getting some random, intermittent, dashboard warnings and, more worryingly, accelerator problems.

The accident was a glancing side impact, mostly around the read door, but did a little damage to the driver's door and the rear wing. The repair to the bodywork was very well done.

When I went to collect the car from the garage, it displayed a dashboard warning "Check child safety feature". Neither I nor the garage had a clue what that was, but after about 15 minutes they came back and said they'd cured the problem, saying it was to do with the lock button on the drivers door that disables the rear passengers' ability to open and close the windows and doors, and that the suspected the system had become 'confused' because they had to take the door off to carry out the repair. This warning hasn't returned.

Three days later, I got a completely different dashboard warning - "Rear seatbelt coming loose". At I was in the car myself, but we have a child seat in the middle back seat. Sometimes one of my other kids accidentally releases it instead of their own seat and I assumed that was what had happened and they hadn't fully reinserted the seatbelt. I stopped and check the seatbelt and it seemed okay. When I restarted the car, the warning was gone and hasn't returned.

Another 4 days later and a new, and very worrying problem appeared. First the car didn't slow down when I took my foot off the accelerator (at 35mph) as I approached some traffic lights. I braked to a stop, but when the lights went green and I took my foot off the brake, the car accelerated away without me touching the accelerator. It reached 20mph before I touched the brake to control the speed. During this two dashboard warnings appeared - the first was "STOP Engine failure hazard", then a few moments later "STOP Check hill start assist". I stopped the car in a safe place for a few minutes. When I restarted, the problems were gone so I drove carefully home without any problems.

The insurance company are going to send an engineer to inspect the car, but I'm not sure what they'll find when the problems seem so random and intermittent. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing these seemingly unrelated problems?

Thanks
I'm back - What have I missed ?
Hi

i'm back from the good old US of A, have I missed anything - like the site issues being sorted ? (ha ha ?)

Been so nice to fill up from empty for less than 40 bucks !

Had a nice rental vehicle this time - got given a RAV 4 AWD instead of the obligatory JEEP (FIAT SUV !)
much nicer to drive and felt a lot better built (last Toyota I drove was a 70's Cressida that had more rust & filler than metal !)

Catch up with the gossip gradually I guess ?

DP0 Scenic II axle seal & fluid change questions

Renault Forums :: Independent Renault forum
DP0 Scenic II axle seal & fluid change questions
Hi, my parents have recently bought a 2004 Scenic II with only 74k miles on the clock (confirmed mileage), the car is in great shape except for the shorter axle gearbox seal leaking. The gearbox is an automatic DP0 powered by 2.0 16v.
I don't have any trusted mechanics around, and I fix most of my cars myself therefore I decided to do the job on my own, but since this is an automatic transmission and they are extremely expensive in repair, I don't want to make it any worse.
I've already bought a new, OEM seal (part number 8200773453 - can somebody confirm this is the right seal? I couldn't find anything else, my DP0 is the newer type with square oil drain plug on the bottom and a plastic leveling tube)
I also bought 4 litres of ELF Renaultmatic D3 Syn for a complete oil change.

I have a few questions:

1. If i jack the car up near the wheel (so the car's gonna be tilted), will any oil drain from the gearbox after i pull the axle out?
2. Is there any chance that an oil change will make things worse instead of the other way? I've read a few topics where people were complaining about slipping etc after changing the oil, but it's possible that they used the wrong type (mineral instead of synthetic for example). The gearbox works fine, so I really don't want to do any harm, especially that it's not my own car.
3. Is it normal for axle seals in these gearboxes to fail? I've never had this problem in any of my cars (but I drive manuals), maybe it's something more than just the seal (the bushing that the axle is inserted into?) But I know that the oil pressures in automatics is very big so maybe that's normal.

Now questions regarding the oil change:
1. I know the renault procedure of doing it, but I don't own Clip and I don't have anyone in my area that owns it. Would anything bad happen if I did the oil change without resetting the gearbox's adaptation (or whatever it's called)? And obviously without checking the oil temp through the sensor, but by an external thermometer.

Thanks in advance!

Starting issues

Hi guys
I have had an issue now for several months and it has been back & forth to 2 different main dealers and neither can solve the issue.
They have replaced the starter motor, the engine computer & the ignition barrel.
None of these have solved this problem.
Sometimes it starts fine ... once it has been driven for a while that is when the problem starts . I put the key in and turn it ... all the lights come on , engine warning light stays on and when I turn the key I get nothing at all .... on other occasions when I turn the key the starter jams . On these occasions it sometimes starts after a few turns.
Has anybody ever come up with similar problems ? Renault tell me they have exhausted there tests and on the last occasion it went in they said they can find no fault ? It lasted 3 days before the issues came back . It is now costing me money on hire vans and repairs . ***x1f61e;

Can anybody confirm this?
I ask because a lot of sellers on ebay state that their fobs will have to be programmed to work....:frown2:
Channel 4 F1 2019
Channel 4 will broadcast the 2019 British Grand Prix live to UK viewers, with the other 20 Formula 1 races shown as highlights in a new deal with Sky.

As part of the arrangement, the two broadcasters will share availability of some of their original drama programmes.

Sky has exclusive rights to screen F1 races live in the UK from the start of next season as the shared agreement it has had with terrestrial stations on the BBC and Channel 4 since 2012 ends following the 2018 season.

But Channel 4 will now continue to show F1 highlights as part of a new arrangement that means the first series of Sky show Tin Star will be shown the station later this year, with selected Channel 4 and Walter Presents drama series released on the Sky and NOW TV platforms.

"I'm delighted that we've been able to establish such an exciting and innovative partnership with Sky which will ensure that the British Grand Prix and highlights of the 2019 Formula 1 championship remain available on free-to-air television for UK viewers," said Channel 4 CEO Alex Mahon.

Stephen van Rooyen, Sky UK and ROI CEO, added: "Today's partnership is the start of a new era of collaboration between Sky, Channel 4 and, we hope, other British broadcasters.

"Not only will this innovative partnership benefit viewers, watching via Sky or free-to-air, but it will further strengthen the ecosystem of UK broadcasters and British originated content."
Replacing NS rear seat belt on Grand Modus 2010
Hi, the webbing on our near side rear seat belt has torn, I believe because it was caught in the latch that secures the rear seat and we pulled on it :crying2:. Obviously I need to get this sorted, especially with an upcoming MOT. I've looked online and it should be possible for me to replace the whole seat belt unit with pretensioner - apparently I can get a used replacement unit from various suppliers (although it looks like a bit of a minefield trying to find the exact model that will fit the car). I've also seen seat belt re-webbing services that will do the job if you send the unit to them. Can anyone provide guidance / advice / recommendations about either option? Also, if I remove the seat belt unit to send it off for repair, will the missing seat belt affect the operation of the car in any way (I'm thinking that the pretensioner is part of the electrics)? Thanks.
Fix the effin thing - please

Camshaft Position Sensor and bad power supply line
My Megane (2005 16v 1.6l) stalls at idle in couple of seconds after starting cold if I don't keep the rpm around 2000. I began investigating for the cause and found out that bad camshaft position sensor could cause this behaviour. But to my surprise the sensor's wires seem to be faulty. I checked the voltage on the 12V line and I got only 5mV when ignition power on and 1mV when off.

Is it possible to bypass the 12V supply line safely straigth from battery or something similar without destroying the ECU?

I know the right way would be to check the continuity but I have no idea where the cables go behind the engine.
Kadjar Bluetooth
I have to reconnect my mobile to Bluetooth every time I start the car (Kadjar 16 plate) is this normal or is there something wrong.
