new to the forum

Hi I,m new to the forum, I have recently bought a 2002 Renault laguna 1.8 16 v petrol model and have a few questions, why does the car rev so high in 5th gear it revs at 3000rpm approx, I had a starting fault which came down to the crankcase sensor, which is now sorted and why would i have at certain times have the battery charge fault light coming on, but not really on a long run, but the battery still seams to be charging. Thanks Paul

2001 Clio Alize 1.4 16v possible multi relay box issue?

Hi,

My wife has a 2001 Clio 1.4 16v Alize. The sunroof seals gave up the ghost recently, which hopefully I have repaired but i think where water has leaked into the car it may have damaged the multi-relay box.

The heater, rear window heater and ac controller doesn't get any power, I assume the mechanical side works as the fan runs on all the number locations and blows hot and cold air. Everything else works on the car, wipers, central locking, interior and exterior lights etc just not the controller. I bought another one off fleabay recently which the seller assured me was working when it came out of the original car but when I swapped them over I got the same issue.

Has anyone got any ideas as to what I can do or where to look for a solution?

Thanks

Al

54 plate Clio Headlight Problems

My girlfriends 54 plate Clio 1.2 has developed a strange problem. Earlier in the week, the original battery failed. This was replaced with a brand new one. Ever since, the headlights work ok, but when you turn them off on the switch, they stay on! They go off when the ignition is turned off, and the sidelights still work independently of the headlights.

I'm assuming that the headlight stalk itself is at fault, and the battery issue is just a coincidence. Before i buy a replacement switch, is there anything else likely to be wrong?

Also, is the headlight stalk easy to change? Is it a steering wheel off job or not?

All help much appreciated!!

Radio Fault error code 56plate Scenic

I'm a beginner at this, so apologise if there's an easy answer already on the forum. Here goes, fault on battery cell meant a replacement battery fitted by independent garage. Have attempted to enter the 4 digit radio code on numerous occasions now, however error is displayed and a wait time starts counting down from 99, I wait until zero & try again with same result. Rang Renault help line, they referred local dealer to me who want £49.99 just to diagnose fault. I suspect others must have experienced before, Anyone able to help????

Change rear pads on newer Scenic with electric caliper, without using diagnostic comp

Hi,

This is my first post to this forum. Wanted to share my experience I had this morning of changing rear brake pads on a 2009 Scenic with TRW electric calipers, without plugging in a computer.

My friend brought his car down this morning as his rear brake pads were metal to metal. When I took the wheels off I found electric brake calipers (no hand brake cable like on the older scenics). After a quick Google I found out you are supposed to have a Renault diagnostic computer to wind off the caliper. Not being put off by this, I thought i'd have a go anyway.

The first problem I had was to make the parking brake stay off when the engine was off. The way to do this is turn on the ignition with out starting the engine. To do this press the start button without pressing any of the pedals. Then press the brake and release the parking brake by pressing the parking brake button. Now press the start button twice quickly. The ignition should now be off and the parking brake released.

Next I needed to wind off the calpier. For this I had to removed the plastic motor assembly on the back of the caliper, it was held on by 2 torx bolts and needed a bit of a pull to get it off. With the motor assembly off there is now an exposed spline screw on the back of the caliper. This needs to be wound back. If I remember correctly it was clockwise for the o/s and anticlockwise for the nearside. The spline screw was only finger tight and I didn't need my ratchet on the socket. Once it was wound off you can push back the pistions and change the pads as you would with front calipers.

To reassemble, it helps to put a little bit of grease on the lip of plastic motor assembly that fits into the caliper. Once the new pads have been fitted and the motor assembly has been refitted and before you put the wheels on, press the brake pedal repeatedly to push out the brake pistions before you apply the electric hand brake.

Hope this is helpful to someone. Sorry about there being no pictures but I wasn't thinking about posting this while I was doing the job.

DISCLAIMER: If you are going to attempt this yourself make sure you do it safely with axle stands and wheel chocks etc, etc. This was not written as a step by step guide. If you are not familiar with working on brakes, get expert advice.

Heater blower just stopped!!!

Hi Everyone,

I have just had my Renault Scenic Fidji 1.6 engine rebuilt (2003) after the cam belt snapped way back in August, the car is running great but as I drove home from work this morning the heater blower suddenly stopped working on setting 4. I checked the other settings 1-3 but nothing!! Now is it just coincidence or has it got somthing to do with the recent rebuild of the engine, which took the garage 4 weeks to sort out (but thats another story) any help would be greatly apreciated.

Windows 10

Anyone want to give Windows 10 BETA a whirl, + feed back to MS on your experiences.

ATM it's very much a Bare Bone trial version & subject to change.

In some ways to me it seems a little similar to Win 7 I've never used Win 8 so I can't compare it with that. BTW you will need a Microsoft email account, an hotmail might be OK, I used an .

Also I removed my current hard drive & replaced it with one that's normally not in use.

The iso file is available from just over 3Gbs worth of it.

Trafic satnav, smashed screen

So the boss in a rage of a fit at his wife on the phone, threw his phone in the dash smashing the satnav screen, so now we cant see the screen to enter the code for the radio!!!

So he got a JVC POS from the local garage for me to fit, went in ok no probs, cd works a treat, but the radio reception is very poor!

In my lexus i had to feed the aerial +12v feed to power the booster so i'm thinking the same here but cant find anywhere to feed the +12v into to power it?

So does it need power? Or is there a cheap satnav screen available?

Cheers in advanced.

Clio B sunroof bolts don't tighten and just keep turning

Hi guys,

I've come across a really annoying problem after trying to tighten the bolts to stop the damn sunroof from rattling. A couple of the bolts just don't tighten and it looks like the thread hole for them has come loose on the sunroof frame and just keep turning with the bolts!

Anyone got any ideas on how to hold these things still while I tighten the bolts? I've tried prying a small flat head screw driver between the thread hole and the metal frame it sits on before the bolt but I can't get any leverage on it :/

HELP!

Megane Scenic MK1 Transmission fail

Hi all, hoping someone might have some pointers here. Car is an 02 plate MK1 Megane Scenic 1.9DCI manual. I pulled away at lights, it started moving and then stopped, though was still revving. Key points are:

Clutch pedal operation is normal.

Can engage gears but no drive when the clutch is let up.

There was no dramatic bangs or grindings.

There is a curious noise when gears are selected, not a grinding, more something rattling/catching somewhere.

My initial thought was driveshaft but garage have checked these and found that the shafts are rotating the CV joints so would appear ok. If the diff had gone I would have expected more noise.

The garage state it would be expensive to investigate further and if it is the gearbox then definitely not worth doing.

I'm thinking it might be clutch mechanism but still an expensive job.

Any help would be much appreciated

road noise or front bearing

Hey guys I've had an echoing noise that I presumed to be road noise from the rear. I've had both rear bearings replaced and one true but I'm now thinking front. The echo gets louder in certain road surfaces so I decided to give the front wheels a check.... I've spun the wheels and obviously there is the usual brake pad in disk sound but also on the rearside there was clicking on rotation.... No play though any ideas ?

MOT Renault Clio (2008 Model)

I have only been driving for 3 years and my Renault Clio is my one and only car

I put it through its MOT today and a number of things came up

  1. Nearside front coil spring broken

  2. Offside front anti-roll bar linkage fractured

Along with the MOT the bill came to £212 - just wanted to know if this was a reasonable price

As well as that the garage identified that the car's engine overheats when the engine is running and it stands still

The garage are unable to identify what the problem is but, believe it could be a broken fan or the head gasket is gone

Car only has 54,643 miles on the clock and just wanted seek peoples experience and advice about solutions

Scenic III - Complete tyre sensor failure

Hi,

I wonder if someone could help because it's a real hassle for me to take this car to a dealer because I am a foreign country and I don't speak the language.

I have a new Scenic III received last week. The tyre pressure sensors were all working when I received the car. After only 400 kms all four went off line exactly at the same time.

Now obviously all four sensors will not have failed at the same time, so it's the receiver in the car or some software bug.

Please could someone tell me if there is something simple I can check (i.e a cable plug) as I have no idea where the receiver is and where to check. Also if it is a software fault, can I reset the system and try again? How do I do this?

Thanks,

Tom

Laguna 1.9 DCi wont start .. Help Me!!

Hi guys,

I have recently purchased a 2005 Laguna 1.9 DCi.

After changing headlight bulb ( I removed battery for easier access) Once battery refitted I now have serious electrical problems.

Unloack car with key card ..ok

insert card .. All lights ok as it should and steering lock releases ok

Press Start button .. display fades then after 2-3 seconds ignition just clicks then recycles back to beginning ... Press Start is displayed.

The more I try the more errors thr display throws up .. airbag error, ABS error, Hand brake error

Up until the battery disconnect all was good.

Have tried various methods with key card and disconnect/reconnect battery.

This morning it trapped me at work, trying usual things but now when reconnect battery and press start the dash goes mental, all lights flash rapidly, rev counter needle bounces. and there is a very loud clicking sound which I cannot locate (possible starter solenoid having a breakdown)

Will be calling AA to recover car (possibly to nearest bonfire)

Please help as really going out of mind with this.

Sick Grand Espace in Scotland

Our 2004 2.2 dci Grand Espace is very sick, having only done 56k. We've gone from needing oil top-ups too regularly, and a smokey first start every day, to the situation now where it blew the oil seal beside the timing belt, and is constantly ****ing oil from a breather tube.

My mechanics have replaced the oil seal, but think there is backpressure caused by ???? and suggest that looking at it to diagnose the fault is expensive, and not worth doing.

I'm looking for someone in the Edinburgh area who has better experience of Renault engines who would be interested in taking a look, can offer a diagnosis and potentially even going for an engine replacement.

I remember someone on this forum from Falkirk who helped out in the past?

Megane III Sports Tourer

Hi all, I own a 2010 Renault Megane Sports Tourer 1.5 dCi 105.

I'm having issues with the radio. Sometimes when I start the engine, it will automatically start and turn off when the engine is turned off. However, most times (especially when I'm using the Bluetooth audio streaming from my phone) it won't turn on or off with the engine and I have to turn it off manually.

Any ideas, please? It is driving me crazy and I don't want to take it into the local Renault dealer just yet as they're unbelievably expensive.

Thanks in advance! :d

2006 2.0dci LAGUNA Hard To Start

I have a 2006 Laguna 2.0DCi that is very hard to start when it sits for a while. When it finally starts there is a lot of smoke! There are no codes stored, glow plugs have been changed (doesn't seem to matter if it's hot/cold outside - it was the same on hot days as it is these colder mornings). A compression test has been done and everything seems fine! Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance!

Aussie in Japan

An Australian businessman goes to Japan to negotiate a deal . On his first night his obiliging hosts take him to a high class brothel, where he is given a choice of women. He retires to a room, climbs aboard and give his prostitute a red-hot go, finishes up, and leaves. On his way out he asks the madam, "Excuse me, the girl was fantastic, absolutely brilliant. But tell me one thing- on every downstroke , she'd scrunch up her face and yell 'WARAMAKAZI !, WARAMAKAZI !, It was amazing Tell me what does it mean ? " The madam seems embarrassed, but manages to tell the man that the word means " Very Good" .

Happy the man goes to his hotel. The next day his hosts take him golfing. On the second tee, his Japanese host hits an amazing drive down the middle of the fairway which bounces twice on the green and trickles into the cup for a perfect ace. The Australian businessman turns and yells "WARAMAKAZI !, WARAMAKAZI !"

His hosts turns and says, "What do you mean, wrong hole ?"

Hi

Laguna 1.9 dci 05 plate

I have changed the nsf wheel bearing and now have a abs light on, everything has gone back as it came off.

Do i need to reset the computer to get rid of the light or will it just go off when i find and cure the problem.

I replaced the nsr caliper and bleed the brakes but the brake pedal now goes slowly to the floor there are no leaks.

Is there a sequence to bleeding the brakes as am putting another master cyl on as i think thats the problem.

Thank you

Clock always resets? Laguna II

Can anyone enlighten me as to why the clock in my Laguna II always goes back to the time I first set when I switch the car off and back on?

If I set the clock time as 6:32 for example, then drive around for an hour it will count fine. However next time I get in the car it will start again from 6:32. So it isn't just forgetting and going back to zero as you might expect if it needed a new battery for memory or something.

It's the clock on the Carminat Satnav screen in the top left corner.

Tyres vs road noise

The EU has given this weird noise rating. I was wondering is it worth the paper its written on? I used to buy Michelin but got 2 punchers so had to get cheap ones a while back. Now its quite noisy to the point where I wonder is it the wheel bearing.

Is it worth buying mid range tyres for the sake of road noise or are they roughly the same as budget tyres?

Packaging

Look carefully at the packaging. :d

kangoo not starting (no warning)

hi looking for a bit of help. I have a 2003 kangoo sl19dci 70. Drove to work this morning with no problems or warnings at all then when I went into the van at lunchtime it wouldnt start. The heater plug lights are coming on as normal but it wont fire up at all. I noticed after turning it over a few times the immobiliser light that normally flashes is staying on constant when the ignition is turned on. Any help much appreciated

Drivers window closes on its own

Hi guys, while i was in my car today the drivers side window kept closing on its own, it did it in bits, as if someone was randomly pressing the window up button, and now the window has stopped working altogether.

As the windows close automatically when i lock the car do you think this could be ECU related? I have had a lot of trouble with ECU in the last 4 weeks.

Multi Window Fault

I just bought an 04 Megane with 4 electric windows.

The fault I have is that only one works, the rear drivers side. This works with the switch on the rear door and the multi switch on the drivers door.

None of the other windows work at all from any switch. I've rattled the doors a bit and can't hear anything rattling around in the bottoms of them and i doubt that all 3 cables have snapped. When I press the window buttons i'm getting no motor whir, no relay click, nothing.

Would I be right in thinking that I need to replace the multi switch on the drivers side and because this is faulty the other switches arent working aswell?

Many Thanks

Simon

Megane 1 Brake/ABS Problem

Little bit of a problem,

every now and again I get a nosie from one of the front wheels which is similar to pads being low/scoring on the discs, a grinding noise, but it comes and goes. The guy I bought the car off has had the brakes done (probably by himself) this year, but tonight I bobbed to the post office and under light braking on dry roads the pedal was banging like the abs was kicking in, does anybody have a clue what it might be?

strange electronics box

Hiya people a newbie here so I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. I run a 2011 Renault master which I use for European work with bed and night heater. The other night when it was completely dark I noticed a light coming from under the dash in the passenger foot well, next morning when I stuck my noggin under there I noticed a clear plastic box with several tiny led lights blinking green Orange red etc, does anybody know if that really should be there? It is quite loose with wires coming out of it and looks rather out of place, I should point out that the van is ex rental from enterprise so I'm Wondering if it may have had a GPS tracker fitted to it considering it was based in northern Ireland and would it also cause the van to suffer from turbo lag and hesitation when pressing the accelerator pedal? Thanks in advance guys.

cool box in Scenic 2002

I have a 2002 registered Scenic Megane, just below the dashboard in front of the gearchange, there is a sort of coolbox which is referred to in the handbook as a refrigerated box. Inside the compartment is a small rotary opening flap but it seems to make no difference to the temperature inside. I just keep a couple of water bottles in there which always seem cool enough, but when I saw the word refrigeration in the handbook it got me wondering if there is some way of getting it to become cooler by using the dashboard controls for the heating system perhaps. Anyone know how the system is supposed to work?

Thanks Guys.

echo and slight vibration

After a humming noise I replaced the rear bearings of my car the humming noise went and it was great for a week or two.... Now I have an annoying loud echo road notice on certain surfaces and a slight vibration felt under my feet. The front wheels have been balanced. Tyres seem ok except for the rear offside. Slight vibration on pull off too .... Ideas

Megane 3 front bumper removal - time and tooling?

Afternoon all, I want to fit aftermarket parking sensors to my wife's Megane 3. It's the Generation version, 2010 model, 4-door 1.6 diesel.

Looking at the car, it seems difficult to fit the sensors, mainly due to lack of access and difficulty in routing the wires through the engine bay.

So, could anyone help me with info on how easy it is to remove the front bumper? I've got a basic tool kit including torx adapters, any other tooling needed? What sort of time frame am I looking at, for removal?

If anyone has a 'how to', that would be absolutely superb!

I'm an aircraft engineer by trade (although I haven't laid hands on tools for a few years), so I have some ability.... :-)

Megane PK4 gearbox whine

Hi all, my 2007 RS Megane 175DCi 130k miles is whining in 6th gear and to a less extent 5th. It only whines when I'm on the gas, and only in the top two gears. Also the gearstick moves quite a bit when stationary or slow when I'm on the biting point - but I understand that is fairly normal. Other than the noise it drives fine. I am minimising using 6th gear at all now, and if I keep the speed down the whining isn't so noticable in 5th. I won't be able to fix it for another 6 weeks or so as I'm moving house.

My first question is how long do you think I have if I carry on babying it? And if/when it does fail is it likely to be catastrophic gearbox death or just knock out 5th and 6th gear?

Next question is - repair or replace the gearbox? I can't find anyone selling bearings for the PK4 box. And I'm unsure whether an idiot in a shed with a collection of hammers and crowbars can replace gearbox bearings. There are a couple of used gearboxes on ebay - but obviously a bit of an unknown. How much variation is there on the PK4 gearboxes? I think mine is a PK4-013 - could I use others, or is that asking for trouble?

I'm still undecided whether to change dmf/clutch/slave regardless, or see what they look like when I'm there - guess it depends how much of a pain its to get the gearbox out...

I've read ssashton's excellent write up of his gearbox removal - different car, engine and gearbox, but otherwise identical! I can't believe there is going be any more room in the Megane's engine bay than the laguna

ps I've changed the gear oil and it looked very clean. Also changed rear gearbox mount to try help wobbly gearstick - neither made any difference!

2010 Megane III coupe 1.5 dci - Blower stopped working after heavy rain

Hi all, I really hope someone can help me!

I started my car this morning and everything was grand except my blowers wouldn't come on! They wouldn't come on in any setting at all, 1, 2 ,3 or 4, nothing. After reading a previous post I have perhaps realised it is due to blocked drain holes at the bottom corners of the windscreen and the knock on effects of same.

Can anyone advise, firstly, how to clear these out effectively & secondly if my blower motor is likely dead now due to water ingress somehow?

I will check fuses too of course, if I can locate the fuse required.

Any help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated. If I do find a solution I will post here with photos so others know how to sort this out.

Thanks.

Pete

Difficulty trying to remove spare on Espace III

After many attempts to drop the spare down, going through the manual etc, I'm hoping someone could give me a hint as to which way the spare comes off, lowered ok to a point but now it won't even wind up, so a bit stuck? I,m guessing by the centre swivel cap that it needs to come more down to lift wheel before fitting through wheel?

New member - hello

Hi all,

Been lurking for a while, but got round to joining. My wife has a 2007 Megane RS 175DCi which is our reliable car of the fleet. I also have a RX8 which I've just finished rebuilding the engine, and a 1972 VW campervan - which needs 'some' attention to the bodywork once I've got better at welding.

I've a problem with my Megane gearbox whining in 6th and less so in 5th gear - I'll post in the relevant forum looking for advice.

:)

OEM or pipercross

Hey guys, I'm having my megane coupe 1.4tce remapped and i'm servicing it beforehand. Would you stick to the OEM air filter or go for a piper cross or K&n e.t.c? I've read quite a few opposing opinions, I don't want to risk the engine by sticking something in that isn't as good.

Cheers.

A B service Scenic3

Hi

first post for this Renault. Bought a 1 year old Scenic 3 from a main dealer. It had 14500 miles so got them to service it as part of deal. Just been back to dealer due to service reminder after 12 months. I queried this as the info display says oil change in 7100 or 12 months. Dealer said that is a B service (2 years or 18000). The A service is annual. When I asked what it entailed they said change cabin filter and visual inspection. That will be £159, please.

having confirmed it wasnta warranty inspection I declined and left.

Are there any major issues from not changing the cabinfilter? (Apart from dealer's profits)?

Radiator advice needed please

Hi all

Clock resetting

Hey everyone just new to the forum. I have a 1999 Renault Megane Monte Carlo edition. The problem I'm having is that when I press the button on the passenger side for that window to go down it knocks off my clock and resets it to 0:00. I also have the same issue when I press the window demister as long as it is switched on the clock will remain blank. If I use my indictor to turn right then the light will flash on the screen however if I do it to turn left there is nothing wrong with it. Any ideas on where to begin? Thank you :)

Knocking clanking noise Laguna II OSF

I have a laguna II 1.9. A noise has developed in the front drivers side. It's not really loud when the power is on or when it is in gear and still moving under power. It really shows up when either in neutral and freewheeling at slower speeds and increases in frequency if I speed up until it seems to disappear. There is also a lot of clanking type sound if I am stationary and moving very slowly, ie I was waiting at some lights on a hill yesterday and traffic started moving forward but very slowly, as I started to move forward it was clanking and banging quite loudly. I have done a lot of work to this car since a bought it, suspension, rear bearings/hubs, disks pads, shocks and springs all round some interior stuff, windows regulators a few times rear subframe bushes a few times, anti roll bars, ball joints etc. I kind of know some stuff but i am no mechanic. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what i can try or check to see if I can figure this out. I don't really have the money for a mechanic right now and would prefer to do it myself if possible. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance

2.0T Auto Laguna 3 Sport Tourer

Going to pick one up in the next week or so. Anyone got any horror stories ? What can i expect , it's the initiale spec. Does it have bluetooth ? Is the mpg that bad ?

another brick in the R-Link

Hello all.

So, R-Linkians, I'm having this problem with R-Link

A screeching noise sounds before and after of what TomTom is saying or alerting me.

It does that with all voices and sounds.

If I do a restore to factory defaults (as the dealer did) it solves the problem but just until the next start.

So I ask you, if I'm alone with this problem or anyone else had the same thing and solved it?

Megane 1 sounds like wheel bearings??

Hi All

The wife's megane cab has over the last month developed a kind of noise that sounds like a shot wheel bearing starting at 20mph at its loudest between 40 and 50 and quietens down again about 60 although it might be drowned out by the road noise.

If you turn to the left it quietens down at all speeds, in a straight line or right turn you can hear it.

Suspecting the front wheel bearings I replaced the pair but hasn't cured the problem, next on my hitlist is either the O/S drive shaft as the inner cv joint has a little more play than I would expect or the rear wheel bearings are suspect, although on the usual test found no free play.

Anyone had any similar experience??

Vel Satis Handbrake ticking all the time

Hi all this is my first go at listing so bear with me!!!! I have a 2004 vel satis with a handbrake fault showing and when its applied it ticks like a bomb from the back of the car.

Seems to work fine most of the time last week stuck on a couple of times used manual release and then reset its self fine.

Stopped working after it rained a fair bit but then started working again.

I think it may be a bad joint poss the release switch so any help would be nice.

The 305 collection

Hello all, its been a while since i sold my clio, my cousin still has his traffic and clio and both are going quite well.

Back in may i went and bought myself a 1985 Peugeot 305 S5 1.6:

My cousin then went and bought himself, a 305 van:

He then told me to put a diesel in the S5 so told me to buy this van for its engine:

I almost started into stripping the S5 but then seen another 305 this time an automatic for sale in the Isle of wight, which i went and bought and drove back home, (600 miles without any problem):

I began stripping the S5 down in August and its currently down to the shell, there are bits of rust here and there and i want to have it properly sandblasted and welded up before respraying it and putting a new engine into it.

2003 Laguna lumpy idle problem

I have changed the coil pencils I have changed spark plugs I have cleaned the throttle body car has just had full service no warning lights on dash

Engine is silent but does seem to lack power when moving if you apply throttle the lumpiness seems to clear , I'm hopeing it's a cheap fix but just need some help thanks in advance Jay

EML light on 2002 Clio 1.5 DCi

Its been a while since I've posted anything, i dont have any renault at the moment, but my cousin still has 3 and i have a clip machine.

His diesel clio has the Glow plug/oscilliscope light on at the moment, he said there was a slightly high idle, i plugged in the clip and it brings up a code related to the glow plugs and another i can't remember the exact wording but i think it was referring to the throttle controller.

I suppose with the glow plugs the best thing to do would be to check for voltage on each plug, and their resistance. But what about the throttle, does these clios have a fly by wire arrangement, what should i look at first.

auto light on dashboard

This light came on after a five mile journey and automatic gearbox is now very noisy

Twingo clutch pedal loose

Hi all just thought i would pass on a little fix that i have carried out today which will save you hundreds£££.

SYMPTOMS-clutch pedal loose/pedal on the floor.

CAUSE-link rod worn on clutch pedal, even after refitting-it fails again after a couple of miles.

RENAULT FIX-complete new clutch pedal at well over £200,you cant buy the rod separate.

MY FIX-local scrap yard, find a clio 2001 onwards, remove the link bar from the clutch pedal cost about £2.

Remove the lower dash trim from the twingo-it just pulls off, disconnect the headlamp adjuster after removal.Fit the new link rod to you twingo job done.

clutch problems.

Hi I'm new to this forum. Basically I drove my clio this morning as nice as you'd like but I pulled in at a shop and as I drove it afterwards i put it into 3rd gear exiting an island and as i pushed the throttle pedal it just revved so I tried 4th and did exactly the same and was the same in all gears after that. I had about 30mm on the throttle pedal where I could make the car go but anything after that it just revved as if I wasn't in gear. I managed to drive it about 6 miles back to my local garage. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Renault 21 TXI ABS Fault

My dad has owned a 1990 Renault 21 TXI from new and it is immaculate only covering 25,000 miles. It has ABS (one of the first Renault cars having this I think) but the warning light is now staying on. A local mechanic has spent a lot of time on it but the diagnosis is unclear. There is one wheel sensor that reads different from the rest when stationary but all are the same when moving. He is going to try a replacement sensor for that wheel but it is an expensive trial at £150.

Anyone with any othere ideas? The ABS unit itself looks very expensive to replace if one can even be tracked down. According to How Many Left there are only 2 currently registered in UK with 9 on Sorn so getting bits is going to be difficult I think.

2003 Renualt trafic fault code reaader??

2006 clio 1.5 gearbox failure

Car is a 2006 clio dci 1.5 van, so still the earlier shape.

Was driving perfectly until recently when the gearbox started making a awful clunking noise when driving, makes the car impossible to drive.

I have been looking into getting a gearbox for it and it turns it the gearbox used is quite rare, the type is jh3145.

My question is, is it worthwhile looking into gettingthe box repaired or are there any more common gearbox types that would fit instead?

Thanks

Uch renault espace

Hi help please! Battery keeps draining in my espace.03 reg. Garage did a diagnostics and said uch fault but couldn't find what is causing the drain. Any thoughts? Thanks

DPF on 64 plate clio?

I have the 1.5 dCi clio and from what I can tell from the handbook (don't know anything about cars except witchcraft happens under the bonnet) it has a DPF and I have heard some horror stories about them and what can happen to them.

So where do I stand with this?

What are the usual problems that might occur?

And need they be an expensive problem?

And how can they be avoided?

I use the motorway regularly for work, but only for about 10 - 15 minutes at a time. Something which I am told helps maintain the DPF as long as youre between 2000 and 3000 revs for I dont know what distance or time but over 40mph?

So any info from someone who knows would be handy.

Thanks.

Mk 1 wheels

I had what I thought was the usual sort of rim seal problem on old cars but it turned out to be corrosion where the inner hub pressing is welded to the rim. The car is fitted with 13" 5j steels that have elongated oval perforations but the only spares available all seem to have more but smaller round holes .Are these 2 types of wheels interchangeable in terms of offset?

Intro

Hi, all. Just joined from West Cork, Ireland. Have bought a 2002 Kangoo van. It's my first Renault car, so am looking at forums to get some info and helpful tips as a few things don't seem to be working...all in good time, I guess.

Noisy Alternator/Auxiliary belt?

Hey there guys!

Yesterday I noticed a noise and today I checked to see where the noise was coming from. It seems as if it is coming from the alternator or auxiliary belt (tensioners, Water pump, etc)

The belt looks in good condition and runs smoothly, so I am thinking it could possibly be bearings from any of the tensioners, water pump, alternator etc.

The noise sounds like something catching/not running smoothly. I had a similar sounding noise when I had the radiator fan go on my old Fiat Punto. The noise gets louder with higher revs but as the engine idles or holding a speed at 30mph for example, the noise is barely audible. My thinking it's a bearing gone along the auxiliary belt somewhere?

If the bearing in the alternator has gone, would the noise increase with revs?

Thanks,

Allen.

Megane 3 rca to usb conversion

Hi everyone, just bought a 2011 megane dynamique sports tourer and this came with two rca plugs instead of usb/aux inputs. Is it possible to change the rca module to a usb/aux module, and is any modification to wiring necessary for this? Can you guys point me to a supplier who can sell these to me and mail them to Malta? Pm me if you would rather not name suppliers. Thanks

Mk1 Scenic rear wiper

Hi There,

My 1999 Mk1 Scenic's rear wiper does not work, I have checked the connections and all seems to be ok yet it will not work?

clio wipers not working

i have a y reg clio and the wiper are not working at all i can hear the relay click when the stalk is set to the fastest set but still no movement i ahve replaced the stalk and both motors also changed all the fuses and still nothing so im stuck as of what to do next

An interesting fault!

Hi folks, I have bought my umpteenth Renault and come across the strangest thing to date!! I bought a 54 plate Laguna Estate 1.9dci (I already have a hatchback) from a lady that took it to the dealer when the lights failed. She said they replaced "a loom" and now it won't run and they are asking for more money. She had no more to spend (that's when I bought it) and called a halt to it all.

Well....when you put the card in, the steering lock releases, the Windows work, some exterior lights work, there are NO signs of life on the dash BUT if you bump start it, it runs fine(start button does nothing).

While it's running if you turn on the lights at the Stork, and the select main beam EVERYTHING comes on??? Unfortunately Inc mil light and air bag doh. If you press the start button to stop, it then stops. Pressing the start button again with the panel lights lit though does nothing. This is all a bit weird, seems like the loom they replaced (if they even did that) is the wrong one or plugs are in wrong somewhere.

What do you guys think? Any thoughts would be great.

Cheers

Espace MK4 2.2DCI Automatic Nearly Stalling Down Hill

I have a Renault Espace MK4 2003 2.2 DCI (automatic gear box). Car runs well apart from when going down a hill then braking, slowing the car down to around 27 mph in 3rd the engine starts to vibrate as if it wants to stall. Engine never stalls and recovers. The steeper the hill the more pronounced the problem. Fault occurred for the first time after towing Caravan

The car has done 89,000 miles and I'm getting 29 MPG from it.

There is air in the hand priming pump and I can see air bubbles going into the fuel injection pump, or could the vacuum from the brake servo influence the engine revs.

Work done to date is one second hand injector, new glow plug new diesel and air filter. Cleaned EGR. Cleaned Throttle housing. Second hand Vacuum Valve. New engine mount. Clip (computer) not showing any faults.

Trafic wheel change

New member, please take it easy on me

I would like to fit a set of Discovery alloys to my 2007 traffic. I found some info as follows

traffic 5x118 pcd...38-45 offset....71.2bore

disco 5x120 pcd...30-50 offset....70.1bore

My question is, if I had the disco bored out to71.2

would they fit or has anybody done the same??

I know I would need wobble bolts, and possible spacers, but would the boring out bit work

Renault Laguna II: Starts and stops by itself. Central locking working intermittently

Dear fellow Renault Forum users,

I am currently experiencing a strange problem with my Renault Laguna II from 2004.

Recently it has begun to start and stop by itself. It never happens when the car is going more than max 10-20 km/h, and most often when the car is standing still.

Sometimes when i am holding for a red light, the car suddenly turns off. Everything is turned off. If i press the start stop button, the car will start without any problems.

I also experience that when i want to stop the car, by pressing the start stop button, the car does stop, but kind of turns off and then turns on ignition again.

Sometimes the car can just start by itself if the keycard is in the reader and standing still.

It really seems to be some kind of electrical problem to me. Because lately i can also not open og lock the car with my keycard. Most often its in the morning, after the car has ben standing out all night. If i then use the emergency key lock to get in and drive for a while, then the central locking works again using the key card.

I hope that some of you have an idea as to what this could be caused by, and what to do.

Thank you very much.

On the buses

A man was riding a bus, minding his own business, when

the gorgeous woman next to him started to breastfeed her baby.

The baby wouldn't take it, so she said,

"Come on sweetie, eat it all up or

I'll have to give it to this nice man next to us."

Five minutes later, the baby was still

not feeding, so she said,

"Come on, honey. Take it or I'll give

it to this nice man here."

A few minutes later,

the anxious man blurted out,

"Come on kid.

Make up your mind!

I was supposed to get off four stops ago!”

In desperate need of help with immo remove w210

Hi

Its been long time since I have been here, one of the reasons is that for quite a while I dont have Renault. Was trying to come every now and than and help out fellow members, but got into bit of a trouble with my current car Mercedes w126.

I would bore you to death with the whole story as it's been 6 month off the road due to engine problems. Now it has an engine out of w210 e280 straight 6 petrol.

Latest problem - Immo - ECU is looking for immo through CAN lines. ECU is made by Bosch 0 261 203 619.

If i provide Eeprom dump would anyone be able to alter it accordingly?

Cheers

How To: Clutch Change Laguna II 1.9dci

Okay well first I have to say I'm well cheesed off!! I went to the massive effort of changing the clutch on my car taking about 5 hard afternoons work. I put in a 3 piece kit consisting of friction plate, pressure plate and slave cylinder (CSC). I didn't replace the dual-mass flywheel (DMF) because it seemed in good condition going by the test info LUK give. However, it still judders on the biting point so it must actually have needed a new flywheel!!!!

First, jack up the car with a good amount of space below it. Take the wheels off and the plastic covers. Disconnect the battery.

You need to clear space in the engine bay above the transmission so:

Remove relay box from the back of the battery holder and remove battery tray.

Remove ECU and disconnect.

Disconnect the red wire that is bolted on top the relay box and also the wires that slot onto the back of the relay box. Note where they go and the fuses position.

Remove the air pipe from intercooler to intake manifold.

Remove air pipe from turbo to intercooler.

Remove Air pipe from filter to turbo.

Remove air filter box.

Disconnect the gear linkages. There is a little button in the middle of the connector that releases it from the ball on the gearbox lever. Also disconnect the sensor wires. One on the front of the transmission (crank sensor) and one on top of the transmission (reverse switch).

Drain gearbox oil.

Remove drive-shafts:

Take the central driveshaft nuts off.

Left side (short) - the shaft simply fits between wheel hub and gearbox so if you release it from the hub it can pull out, but first you need to unbolt the rubber cover that seals it to the gearbox. There are 3 bolts.

Now you need to release it from the hub so take the steering arm off the hub and remove teh two bolts that hold the top of the hub to the suspension strut.

The hub should now move freely on the bottom ball-joint and pull the driveshaft slightly out the gearbox with it. If you put the driveshaft nut on the end of the shaft you can hammer it and it will slide out from the middle of the wheel hub. Once the shaft is out don't leave the hub hanging on theb all joint, put something in the bolt hole to lock it with the suspensuion strut.

Right side (long) - There is a support for the shaft half way along with a bearing. This bearing is held in the support by a cover plate that has 2 bolts and needs removing. Now remove the steering arm and the two top bolts from the hub as you did on the other side. Tie the hub with a little slack to the suspension strut. You need to go under the car and free the bearing from the central support. Just get a screwdriver in there and lever the shaft out against the support bearing housing. Now you can go back to the hub and take it off the tie-wrap or whatever you used to stop it falling down too far and then tap the driveshaft free from the hub.

Now you need to clear some space to the side of the transmission so you can slide it off the engine block and flywheel. You need to take off the bars at the side between the wheel arch and the aluminium sub-frame bar thing. Remove the cross-member at the ffront and unbolt that sub-frame bar from the bumper end of the car. If you have xenon you need to unbolt the bracket holding the level sensor.

You need to unbolt the bracket that holds a power steering pipe to the side of the transmission. there are two bolts but it may be easier to do this once the box is lowered down a little (but don't forget it and lower the box all the way).

You can also release a bolt that holds another power steering line at the back where the power steering rack is. This will need to be free to wiggle it around the side of the transmission when you start to lower it.

You now need to remove a bracket that goes between the transmission / clutch bell-housing and the exhaust. It has two bolts at the exhaust end and is held at the other end by a stud on one corner and a bolt with an earth wire at the other corner.

Unbolt the starter motor. Note where the bolts go because some are longer than others. The same is true for the bell-housing so keep a note of bolt lengths and stud positions. Some of the bolts (one I think) are accessible from the top of the engine bay while the other two need to be attached from underneath,. Just push the motor out the way to the back of the engine. I think I was resting mine on the exhaust manifold.

Place a bar over the engine bay to hang the transmission from. I used a ratchet strap so I could lower and raise the transmission. My bar placment in this image wasn't that great, I had wanted to hang the engine bliock too, but it was better to support udner it. The bar needs to be more stright across the engine bay.

Support the engine block under the sump where it connects to the transmission because when you take the transmission away that side will not be supported at all.

Now you can remove the left hand engine mount. Take the bolt out the top, then take the two bolts out either side to remove the rubber part. Now take the mount bracket off the transmission because it would get in the way later.

Finally, you can take the bolts out from the bell-housing and the engine block and slide the transmission out from the engine and flywheel. Use a screwdriver between the engine block and the bell-housing to lever them apart.
