Limp Home Mode - Petrol Smell?

Don't seem to have had a lot of response to this thread, perhaps too many questions on one post!

So, firstly, would limp home mode create the petrol smell I am getting?



Searched the forum, but most people's problems with loss of power seem to be different in that



A) they cut out completely

B) they get a dashboard warning light

C) I haven't seen anybody mention petrol smell



As it's intermittent, I know I might struggle to get a diagnostics result on it, so looking for a things to try?



Please help, I daren't drive on big roads anymore!
