Scenic dti pump timing

Hi can anybody point me in the right direction, Scenic 2002 1.9 dti i suspect the diesel pump timing to be incorrect but alas there are no marks to align the mark on the pulley with. Looking at autodata it says to mark the pulleys before belt removal, i think the timing is out and need a reference point, would appreciate any advise, regards Rob
