Kangoo glow plug light off / temp got working

Hi guys when i came to turn my key in my 2002 1.9D d65 kangoo the other day there was no glow plug light / engine management or temp light so the van wouldn't start .

i called my mate on the rac and after having a fiddle with the relays he found the purple one i think it was had no negative feed. the. quick solution for this was to put a fly wire direct from the negative terminal on the battery into the negative terminal on the relay once this was done the van started fine.

The only issue is that we had to put a bullet connection in the fly wire that i need to disconnect and then reconnect every time i stop for a long time and then when i want to start it again i need to reconnect.

i believe this is so not to flatten the battery as if left connected i am aware the battery would go flat as the relay is getting a constant feed

This was just a temp job to get me going until he gets Chance to have better lool at his own place in the new year

i am here to ask has anyone came across this same problem before ??

what could be causing the relay to loose the negative feed
