ongoing HOT START problem megane 1.5 DCI

Hi there,

The hot start problem...we have tried the following so far without success.

1. Took it to a local garage where they plugged in a code reader and it said "THE AIR INLET TEMP is reading -40 degrees " (minus 40 degrees C) it's my sons car he brought it round and we soon realised that it did'nt have an air inlet temp sensor...

The clue I suppose was in the reading minus 40 ... this I think was pointing towards an open circuit or the fact that it did'nt in fact have one.

2. We then took off and cleaned the EGR VALVE (having it come apart like they sometimes do with the solenoid coming away seperate and leaving the valve stuck in the housing.) was a pain.

3. Changed the CRANKSHAFT TDC SENSOR.

4.Changed the FUEL FILTER but this also has'nt helped but had to be done of course in any case.

We are now looking to change the CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR at £35 inc. vat the costliest option left till last.

Has anyone had the hot start problem before and sorted it by changing the camshaft position sensor.

The car starts up perfect from cold runs well with good fuel economy and no smokey exaust.
