Recently purchased a 2007 Grand Scenic 2.0 VVT Dynamique automatic.
The car seems to be very high revving and possibly due to this is only averaging 29 mpg. I was informed that the auto gearbox is only 4 speed - at 60mph you are sitting at 3000 rpm and 70mph at 3500 rpm - anything faster than 70mph and the engine screams. You feel that it should have an extra gear but slipping it into the manual option doesn't help. - 4 is the highest. Is this normal?
Shortly after getting the car a fault was detected with the gearbox causing a jolt and it dropping 2 gears. Solonoid replaced with no reoccurrence.
