No timing marks on cam/crank sprockets

I hope this is the correct section to post for an Nissan micra 1.0 auto petrol engine complete overhaul.

I am currently working on this engine totally stripped, unfortunately I was unable to find any timing marks on the camshaft , crankshaft sprockets and cylinder block.



I can only think of working the no.1 piston to TDC at full intake/exhaust valve closure. Using dial gauge to reach TDC and compression pressure gauge to check . The challenge is positioning the cam sprocket. Hard to find any literature on timing without markers.
