double indemnity.

There was a movie with that title, something about getting double payout on life insurance,if the insured died unusually like falling from a moving train?

All calculated on odds of course.

Recently in ireland weve had a lot of adds..Its 4women.

not its 4polish/whites/asians

Motor insurance specifically for women the actresses in the adds.. cmon girls..you know were safer than guys.

Girl power n so on.

Main sponsored personality is katie "irish women are the best boxers" Taylor.

So far this sounds like the typical male begrudging thread right?

1. It is true according to statistics that women are on average safer, better (whatever way the advertisers want to word it) drivers than men.

Thats purely on statistics .Averaged over all ages, especially young drivers ,women cost insurance companies less than men.

So up until recently they paid lower premiums.

2. With eu rulings this has been branded gender descrimination.Hurrah for us men you might think :) but in reality .Mens premiums drop a tiny amount and womens go up a lot :(

Something like age equalisation on health insurance.

Anyway what about its 4women..must be like a womens only health club, with all the cheapo low ins for women just like before.

3. No it aint. The adverts make it seem like it is.. cmon girls "were not afraid to ask for directions"(like those silly men whom we also insure but certainly arent going to say so in this ad)) etc etc.. but fact is the co still has to follow the regs.

Quotes online and direct..there is no..eek,a man..we cant insure you!,or you should have used a higher pitch voice for a quote, and guess what the premiums are exactly the same with same age stats/car type n so on but changing only the gender.

Truth in advertising strikes again.

Its probably a "broker" scheme backed by a large ins co,I didnt read that far into it,but the adds must be costing a fair bit + the cash to the sponsored personalities.

Unless they hope very few men will call, want "its 4 women" on their policy and hope to maintain or gradually lower premiums just on the fact men wont apply?
